Impacting the Community through Government
Participants in Youth and Government have the opportunity to learn about legislative procedures, debate current issues, and ultimately propose and pass bills.
Through these simulated activities, students develop critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills. They gain a deeper understanding of how government works and the role they can play as responsible and engaged citizens. Participants also have the chance to interact with elected officials, community leaders, and fellow students who share an interest in civic affairs.
The Youth and Government conference is attended by thousands of teens from across the state every year. We cannot wait for you to join!
Serving the Greensboro, Jamestown, Eden and Reidsville, NC, areas, the YMCA of Greensboro wants to be your first option for college preparation. One of the Y’s main focus areas is youth development, and Youth and Government builds on individuals’ developmental skills and helps grow self-esteem.
