Impacting the Community through Government

Youth and Government is a national YMCA program designed for high school students in grades 10-12, providing a “hands-on” leadership experience in state government. This project-based program is perfect for future lawyers, leaders, and anyone passionate about making a difference in their community. Participants will gain invaluable experience in public speaking, debate, and law, empowering them with the skills to effect meaningful change.

The program runs from August 2025 through January 2026 and requires teens to meet in person twice a month on the first and third Thursdays at the Bryan YMCA from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. During the program, participants will actively engage in the legislative process by writing mock laws or bills, giving them a unique opportunity to learn how government works and how to influence their communities.

Youth and Government is limited to 15 participants to ensure an immersive and impactful experience. The program costs $700 per participant and offers a challenging, rewarding opportunity for students eager to develop their leadership potential. Join us to help shape the leaders of tomorrow!
