What is the 1889 Society?

The 1889 society is a group of generous individuals and community leaders who are committed to making the Y a priority on an annual basis. 1889 Society members pledge gifts of $5,000 or more over three years. Being a part of this group provides unique opportunities to see the Y mission in action, and places you among a group of our community's top business leaders and philanthropists.

Where does the name come from?

In 1889, a group of visionary philanthropy leaders came together to found the YMCA of Greensboro. This society honors their contributions to our community.
