Greensboro Swarm Theme Jersey Night
Game-Worn Jerseys To Be Auctioned Online With Proceeds Benefitting The YMCA
Greensboro, N.C., February 15, 2022 – The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, announced today that the team’s theme jersey for the home game on Friday, February 25, against the Raptors 905 (Toronto Raptors affiliate) will feature the various youth sport and healthy lifestyle programs offered by the YMCA of Greensboro. The game-worn jerseys will be sold on an online auction with proceeds going to YMCA financial assistance program.
“Our unique relationship and partnership over the last five seasons with the YMCA of Greensboro continues to find ways to give back and serve our community,” Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. “Our brands work together to bring the community together and this is another example of how we creatively do so. We know how important the YMCA is locally and we are looking forward to raising money to support their programming.”
The theme jersey highlights the YMCA’s focus on youth development and healthy living through its sports and youth programming. In iconic teal and purple, the jersey has symbols for programs and activities running from under the arm to the knee as well as larger specific symbols on the chest and back. Blended into the background on the jersey and shorts is the YMCA logo.
“We are excited to partner with the Greensboro Swarm to bring the YMCA theme jersey night to the community,” said President and CEO of the YMCA of Greensboro Rhonda Anderson. “The jersey symbolizes the Y’s commitment to the development of youth in our community. The proceeds of the jersey auction will support our financial assistance program that provides discounted programming and memberships to those who need it. Each donation allows the Y to impact thousands of lives throughout the year.”
Fans can start bidding online for the one-of-a-kind jerseys on Wednesday, February 23, at 12:00 p.m. ET on www.biddingowl.com. The auctions close Monday, February 28, at 12:00 p.m. ET. Links for the auction will be shared on the Swarm and YMCA digital platforms when they go live.
The game will feature several YMCA-themed entertainment and activities that align with the Swarm’s fun and family-friendly game experience. The first 200 fans at the Fieldhouse will receive a YMCA miniature basketball upon entry. Other elements will include early registration for summer camp and spring youth sports and a raffle to win a free week of youth summer camp, a 6-month family membership, a youth sports season and much more.
An additional offer for fans in attendance will be a $5 off any activity or joining fee, before March 1, for a local YMCA of Greensboro that will be sent via a postgame email.
“The YMCA of Greensboro continuously serves the community in Guilford and Rockingham Counties through its seven branches and resident camp,” said Anderson. “We serve more than 15,000 households with nearly 1,500 individuals and families receiving financial assistance in a typical year. The Y is for all people regardless of a person’s gender, race, belief, religion and financial ability.”
