Dive Into Fun
The Swim Time program offers kids aged 5 and up a fantastic opportunity to stay active while having fun in the water! This program helps develop swimming skills and promotes safety through swim tests and guidelines, ensuring children are confident in their abilities. Additionally, kids can make new friends and enjoy social interaction in a safe environment, all while experiencing the joy of swimming. With affordable pricing and dedicated staff support, this program encourages physical fitness and fosters a lifelong love for swimming! This program is currently offered at the Mary Perry Ragsdale Family YMCA.

Cost: $5 per child for 1 hour
Ages: 5 and up

Swim Schedule
January to May
Mondays
3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tuesdays to Fridays
Session 1: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Session 2: 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
June to August
This time is reserved for groups who swim at the Ragsdale YMCA all summer.
September to December
Mondays and Wednesdays
3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tuesdays to Fridays
Session 1: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Session 2: 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Swim Guidelines and Information
- All swimmers must complete a YMCA Minor Waiver Form before they can swim.
- All swimmers under the age of 13 who want to swim outside of the ramp area (0 ft to 3½ ft) must take and pass the YMCA swim test. Click here for information about the YMCA Swim Test.
- 25-yard forward-facing swim
- Deep water tread (30 seconds for Yellow Band; 1 minute for Green Band)
- More info will be given by on-duty lifeguards
- All others must pass a walk test in the ramp area. Those who do not pass the walk test must correctly wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
- If you need help, please ask the lifeguard who is not on the lifeguard stand.
- Swim time is over at the scheduled time (even if your group is late).
- After appropriate warnings have been given to those not following the rules of the pool, lifeguards are instructed to sit previously warned children out for a time they feel is necessary.
- Any issues with the lifeguards should be addressed with Aquatics department management staff. Lifeguards will have the final say in the pool area.
