Building the Community and Next Generation
Y Leaders is a service-learning club hosted at the Ragsdale and Spears YMCAs for teens aged 11-17. This program is designed to help young people develop leadership skills, make a positive impact in their community, and connect with their peers in a supportive environment.
Y Leaders meet weekly to volunteer, socialize, and work toward bettering the Greensboro community. Meetings include engaging service projects, conversations with community leaders, and opportunities for fun and fellowship. Members also serve as teen mentors to children in YMCA after school programs, assist with sports practices, participate in fundraising campaigns, and build connections with other teens who share a passion for giving back.
Through the program, teens will not only develop leadership skills but also enhance abilities such as goal-setting, problem-solving, and decision-making—tools that prepare them to address community challenges and foster civic participation.
If you want to start to make a difference in your community while having fun and meeting new people, sign up for an upcoming Y Leader program in Greensboro, NC, and start your leadership journey today!
